Water Use License Expire

Find out what to do if your license is about to expire

The Association operates with powers and functions as delegated by the State and within the framework of national policies and standards. The association primarily consist of historic irrigation boards which was amalgamated in 2001 to form the Great Fish River Water Users Association (GFRWUA).

The association mainly oversee the water management and monitoring functions with the aid of several sub management committees consisting of locally nominated members. Water distribution is primarily done by the national Department of Water and Sanitation with the association making use of communal canals for internal water distribution. These communal canals are maintained and controlled by those members with legal water use entitlements.

The Association also operates certain governmental water works in respect of which the control and specific maintenance responsibility has been transferred to the association such as the Kommandodrif Dam.
